2. Information for Parents

Your Scout's Unit Leader(s), such as the Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters and/or Committee Members, may be the best source of information about Scouting information as it pertains to your child, especially where the youth's personal advancement and Unit campouts and activities are concerned.  In addition, you may want to check our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page for answers to any questions you may have.  However, District-related information can generally be obtained through this website, and/or through one of the District representatives listed in our "About" page.

Please use the links above to learn more about your child or children's program(s) or the District.

Parents play a vital role in the Scouting movement, and are encouraged to act in volunteer capacities in their local units and/or in the District.  For information about volunteering, please contact the District Chair or the head of the appropriate committee here.

In addition, Orange Mountains District and the Boy Scouts of America are extremely devoted to Youth Protection.  If you have any questions about the District's Youth Protection Policies, please contact the Youth Protection Committee Chair.

3. Boy Scouts Information

Information about Boy Scouts of America programs can be obtained through the District.  If you are looking for a local Unit for your child or children, you may wish to check with your place of worship or other local community organization to see if it has chartered a Boy Scout Troop.  If you are not a resident of one of the municipalities served by the Orange Mountains Council, you may wish to contact your local district or council for a list of Scout Troops in your area.

The Boy Scout Handbook, available through the Boy Scouts of America, is an excellent source of information for Scouts AND Scout parents as well, so you are encouraged to consult the handbook for questions about advancement, uniforms, and general policies.

If you wish to know more about Youth Protection Policies, please contact the District's Youth Protection Committee Chair.
